Dr. Didier Rognan

University of Strasbourg “Reaction-driven generation of bioactive compounds from ultra-large chemical spaces”

Prof. Didier Rognan is a medicinal chemist, currently CNRS research director leading the Laboratory for Therapeutic Innovation at CNRS/Universite de Strasbourg, France. His team aims at rationalizing and accelerating the discovery of innovative bioactive molecules. They perform virtual screening, hit optimization and the unravelling of molecular mechanisms of action. His team has played a pioneering role in promoting virtual screening in Europe and keeps on developing and applying in silico screening methods. They established databases, including Bioinfo-DB, sc-PDB, and methodological developments, such as ChemoGen, Profiler, RLPharm, and VolSite. Besides consulting for many pharmaceutical companies, he created a biopharmaceutical start-up company aimed at developing the first specific treatment of chronic neuropathic pain.
